The Oerlikon Metco DJ2700 runs on gaseous state fuel and provides good coatings that can meet most HVOF customer specs out there (less than 1% porosity, hardness of a min. 1000 vickers, bond strength minimum of 10 000 psi). Coatings applied by this system are offered at a very competitive rate as the Diamond Jet system is relatively inexpensive to operate and maintain.
Every thermal spray system on the market today has its own unique characteristics that give advantage to certain applications. Coatings applied by Diamond Jet systems are applied at a slow rate in terms of “pounds per hour.” This gives the coating a consistently dense, but non-compressive characteristic. A few coatings run through this system are considered to be under “tension” as applied, which in some circumstances is an asset to the application. In some situations, a “compressive” coating may become negative as it may be at risk of cracking due to the compressive nature of the applied coating. This is where the Diamond Jet applied coating shines as it becomes an almost neutral in nature product and can be more tolerant to unusual curves or angles where a compressive coating may be at risk of failure.
Our management and application team are extremely well experienced in the tolerances of many types of coating applications. So you can be assured that we will provide you with well-educated knowledge when determining what application will work best for your product needs and requirements. With over 100 combined years of application experience, Wilcox is by far, the leader of the pack where coating applications are concerned. You can be well assured you are getting the best, by the best, every time!
